It’s sew time!

I didn’t finish the Totally Impractical Baby Blanket in time for Sarah and Mas’ baby shower, so I went to the fabric store and bought some cute flannel fabric so I could stitch together a Really Nice Practical Baby Blanket. I also picked up some brown fleece from the remnants pile so I could make a softie of some kind.

Mitch and Kirby were great helpers!

Here is Kirby posing with the finished products. The blanket has a really cute pattern of a puppy and a monkey riding on a giraffe on one side, and solid red for the other. I wasn’t sure what to do about the softie. I was pressed for time and had none to waste trying to develop a pattern. I searched for “softie” on flickr and saw lots of cute things. I decided to use this cute Scotty Dog pattern. It was super easy to sew and I love the results!

Kirby thinks the softie scotty is for him. I think I’m going to have to make another one for him.

I heart japanese trinkets and knick-knackery.

I haven’t been to Daiso yet, but I have a feeling it is the kind of store where I will spend several hours and dollars.

Please vote! It’s your civic duty.

Or something like that. Some friends entered their song into the student films across america theme contest and made it to the final four.

Dog friend.

I can’t believe I forgot to post about the new dog friend! Introducing Smoke:

He’s the sweetest little guy. He really liked me right away. He was a little unsure about Mitch. Smoke is very protective of Mitch’s mom. Whenever Mitch would walk quickly toward Suzanne or raise his arms to give her a hug, Smoke would go nuts. The only time Smoke got testy with me is when I put a wig on him and started laughing. He didn’t like the way I humiliated him. Unfortunately, I didn’t get the camera ready in time to snap a photo.

People save the funniest things.

We’re still at Mitch’s parents house going through stuff to see if Mitch wants to keep any of it. We have some neat things so far mostly from his grandparents collection–vintage cameras, an old Mah Jong set from the 40s, tons of old records, slides and a slide projector. Here are a couple of items we opted to not bring home with us.

What random unnecessary item(s) are you keeping in storage with the hope of passing on to children/grandchildren or other loved ones?

It’s baby season!

I made some cute onsies for friends who are having babies soon–one set is due in June and another set due in July. I can’t wait to see the lil critters wearing these!
